CPR Certification Training, Thursday, Jan. 12, 7pm

This weeks troop meeting will be a CPR certification course to be held at the American Legion Hall with an earlier 7pm start time. Scouts, scouters and parents are all invited and encouraged to take this training. The cost for the course will be $12 per person to cover training and materials.


 

Cabin Camping Trip, Equipment Return, Jan. 12, 7pm

If you were assigned equipment to clean from this weekend's trip please return it at this week's troop meeting.


 

Committee Meeting, Monday Jan. 16, 7:30-9pm

There is a troop committee meeting Monday, Jan. 16 at the Kulins house. As always all parents are invited to attend to see what is going on in the troop and provide input.


 

Merit Badge Workshop, Saturday, Jan. 21, 9am-1:30pm

The council is having a merit badge workshop on this day. All workshops have been filled. Be sure to get a blue card from Mr Hanley and check for PreReqs if you already signed up


 

Bellmores Chamber of Commerce Color Guard, Saturday, Jan. 21

The Chamber of Commerce of the Bellmores has asked the troop to provide a color guard for their meeting on this day. More details to come.


 

Soup Kitchen Community Service, Sunday, Jan. 29, 10:30am-3:30pm

The troop will be performing community service at the United Methodist Church Soup Kitchen in Farmingdale by serving meals to those in need. Scouts and adults are needed for this day. Please mark your calendars. Permission slips will be available soon. Contact Mrs. Kulins with questions.


 

Gently used scout shorts and pants available

From donations we have some gently used shorts and pants available for our scouts.

The following are available, please email Mr O’Hea (soheat577@gmail.com) with the size and quantity if you would like any and they  will be brought to a troop meeting for you.

2- size 14 boys pants

3- size 16 boys shorts

1- 29in waist pants

1- 30in waist shorts

2- 31in waist shorts

5- 32in waist shorts

1- 34in waist shorts

1- adult extra small BSA swimshorts


 

Scout and Scouter Training Opportunities

 

Outdoor Ethics Courses: Leave No Trace & Tread Lightly! Trainer Course

Theodore Roosevelt Council will be holding these training courses at Schiff Scout Reservation on Jan. 20–22, 2017. Starts at 6pm on Friday and ends at 12noon on Sunday.

(You only need to attend one of these weekend courses)

In addition to Leave No Trace this program will qualify you as a Tread Lightly! Trainer.

This course is open to registered youth, at least 14 years old as of the start of the course, & BSA registered adults.

Course size is limited! All prior courses filled up fast.

DEADLINES TO REGISTER: Fri., Jan. 6, 2017

Course Fee $90 per person includes all materials, membership with the LNT Center & Tread Lightly!, patch, trained card, meals, cabin camping site & insurance.

Participants must attend all sessions to complete the course.

Troop Committee Training Saturday, Jan 14, 2017, 7:30am to 9:00am

The troop is always in need of adult help please consider taking a committee position. This training will give you insight into how you can help our boys and the troop successful. This is for any troop committee position. Scoutmasters and Assistant Scoutmasters are encouraged to take this training to learn the functions of the committee and how the committee can best support your program. Please consider taking this course and helping out our boys. This will be held at Wantagh Memorial Congregational Church. Registration is available HERE.

 

Scoutmaster Fundamentals, Saturday, Jan 14, 2017, 9:30am to 2pm

The troop is always in need of adult help please consider becoming an Assistant Scoutmaster. This training will give you insight into how you can help our boys and the troop successful. Scoutmasters, Assistant Scoutmasters, youth (at least 16 years old) holding the JASM position in the troop & Committee members are encouraged to take this training to learn how a troop operates to help you provide better program support Please consider taking this course and helping out our boys.
