Seamus Healey Eagle Project Fundraiser, Thursday, Mar. 24, 7-9

Since there is not troop meeting this night Seamus will be holding a bowling fundraiser for his Eagle Project at Wantagh Lanes. It will be $13 per person for 2 hours bowling including shoes.. See or contact Seamus with any questions.


 

Merrick/N Merrick  Civic Assn Easter Egg Hunt Service, Sat, Mar. 26, 10am-1pm

The Merrick/North Merrick  Civic Association is holding their Easter Egg Hunt Saturday  March 26 at Frazer Park on Frazer Ave. It is looking for volunteers for about 2 hours helping with usually large turnout of small children.



St. Barnabas, Holy Saturday Service, Saturday, Mar. 26, 6:15-8:15

The Pastor of St Barnabas has requested for scouts to volunteer for an Easter Vigil candle lighting activity at St. Barnabas Church in Bellmore. We need one more scout to assist in setup and cleanup. Contact Mrs. Kulins or Mr. O’Hea  if you wish to participate.


 

Summer Camp Deposits PAST DUE

The troop will be attending summer camp this year at Onteora Scout Camp the week of July 17-23. The total price for camp this year will be $435 per scout. A deposit of $100 per scout is PAST DUE. Balance payments are due on May 5 at the troop meeting or sooner, partial payments before will also be accepted. If you have any questions please ask Mr Hanley, Mr Harrington, Mr O’Hea or Mr Kulins.


 

Harriman State Park Camping Prep, Thursday, Mar. 31, 7:30pm

Scouts wishing to attend the backpack camping trip on April 9-10 must present a packed backpack at this meeting to ensure you have the proper gear and have it packed correctly.

You will have one week to put your pack in order to present again on April 7 for final checkout.

You can not attend this trip without an approved backpack.


 

Introduction to Scuba class, Saturday April 2, 10am to 12:30pm

Venture Crew 288 will be sponsoring an introduction to SCUBA class. Please see the information below regarding the SCUBA Intro Class at Chaminade Pool on Saturday April 2 at 10am.This is a coed event for anyone 13 and over. Please respond if you plan on attending. There are LIMITED SPOTS available. The Cost of the class is $75.00 and includes all just bring your bathing suit and towel.

Merit Badge Workshop, Saturday, April 2, 9am-1:30pm

The council is having another merit badge workshop on this day. The merit badges to be offered are Environmental Science, Movie Making, Chess & Electronics. The cost is $25, online registration is HERE. Be sure to get a blue card from Mr. Hanley and check for PreReqs. Merit badges will be offered during future workshops can be found HERE or for this and other council activities go to the TRC calendar HERE.


 

Order of the Arrow 5K Run/Walk, Sunday, April 3rd, 9:00AM

The 5th annual Order of the Arrow 5K Run/Walk is going to be taking place on Sunday, April 3rd, 2016, at 9:00AM in Eisenhower Park. All proceeds will be going to the Veterans on Long Island. This year, we will have dri-fit t-shirts for all pre-registered. There will also be refreshments and raffles afterwards. If you are interested in volunteering you can contact race director, Ryan Clifford. Registration is $25 with a $5 discount to all veterans and Scouts.

TLC Meeting, Sunday, April 3, 7-8pm

All scout leadership and adult leadership need to attend. As always it will be at the SPL’s home.


 

Harriman State Park Camping Trip, April 9-10

The troop will be going on an overnight hike and camping trip to Bald Rock this weekend. More details to come. Save the date.


 

Duty to God Day (All Faith Weekend), April 8,9,10

This will be a one day event with the option for troop camping on Friday and Saturday evenings. Registration includes breakfast & lunch, patch & camping in tent sites. Cabins will be at prevailing rates if available. After March 25th registration will be $20.00 Participation will fulfill the retreat requirement for the Catholic Ad Altare Dei Award as well as other religious faiths’ emblem requirements and the TRC All Faith Award. American Legion Sign Service Project, April 16-17

Mr. Colon has asked the troop to help with repairing and repainting of some signs for the American legion. All work will be done at the Kulins house on each day between 10am-2pm. Contact Mr. Kulins to volunteer or with questions.


 

Merit Badge Workshop, Saturday, April 19, 9am-1:30pm

The council is having another merit badge workshop on this day. The merit badges to be offered are Citizenship in the Community, Robotics, Signs, Signals, & Codes and Leatherwork. All slots have been filled but if you did register be sure to get a blue card from Mr. Hanley and check for PreReqs. Pack 206 Color Guard Service, April 22 & May 27, 6:30pm

Mr. Harrington has requested scout volunteers from the Troop to perform Flag presentation / color guard duties at Pack 206’s next two pack night to let the scouts there see what a great troop we have. Please consider volunteering, contact Mr Harrington with questions or to volunteer.


 

Seamus Healey Eagle Project, April 23-24, April 30-May 1

Seamus will be holding his Eagle project these weekends doing work at the United Methodist Church in Merrick. Please save the dates, more details to follow.


 

Scout and Scouter Training Opportunities

 

Citizenship of the Community Merit Badge Group, Dates to come.

Mr. Harrington is arranging for a group opportunity for scouts to earn their Citizenship of the Community merit badge. This is a great opportunity to earn an Eagle required merit badge. If you wish to participate please text Mr. Harrington.

 

Introduction to Outdoor Leader Skills, April 2-3

This is an outdoor training intended to prepare you for implementing the outing in scouting. It is the follow up to Scoutmaster Fundamentals and will be held at Schiff Scout Reservation. The $37 cost for the weekend includes all food and training materials. Online registration is HERE.

 

Den Chief Training, Saturday, Saturday, April 9, 8:30am to 1:30pm

Scouts learn how to assist with Cub Scout packs, a great way to increase or ranks. More details to come. Training will be held at Community Church of East Williston, 45 East Williston Avenue

Pine Tree Training: Archery, Saturday, April 9, 9:00am to 1:00pm

Open to Webelos and Boy Scouts.Come out learn or practice your archery skills at Schiff Scout Reservation in Wading River and earn the Pine Tree Archery Patch.  Price $4. Online registration is HERE, the full Pine Tree schedule and more details are available HERE.

 

Pine Tree Training: Orienteering, Saturday, April 9, 9:00am to 1:00pm

Open to Webelos and Boy Scouts.Come out learn or practice your orienteering skills at Schiff Scout Reservation in Wading River and earn the Pine Tree Archery Patch.  Please bring an orienteering compass. Price $4. Online registration is HERE, flyer for this program is HERE.

 

Pine Tree Training: BB Gun, Saturday, April 23, 9:00am to 1:00pm
