Eagle Scout collection, Thursday, May 26

The troop will be collecting $5 per scout at this week’s trop meeting as donations to our two scouts having their Court of Honors soon as we do with all our Eagles. James Medici will be having his on June 30 and John Kulins on July 14 or 15. MOre detail on these events will be coming soon. Mrs. Kulins will be taking all donations.


 

Summer Camp Final payments PAST DUE

Final payments for summer camp are due at the Troop meeting this week. If you have any questions please ask Mr Hanley, Mr Harrington, Mr O’Hea or Mr Kulins.


 

Summer Camp Merit Badge choices PAST DUE

All scouts going to summer camp need to have their merit badge choices ready by this week's troop meeting. A full overview of all the opportunities available at camp this year including Merit Badges being offered can be found HERE. The basic list of Merit Badges can be found HERE.


 

Webelos Woods, Equipment Return, Thursday, May 26

All equipment assigned at the end of the trip last week must be returned cleaned and dried at this week’s troop meeting. There is another trip this weekend so it will be needed for this upcoming trip.


 

Jewish Committee Lag B'omer picnic and bonfire, Thursday, May 26, 3:30pm - 7pm

The annual Jewish Committee picnic and bonfire is being held at Wantagh Park next Thursday.

Memorial Day Weekend Flag Placement, Saturday May 28, 5:45am

We will be placing flags at Pinelawn National Cemetery meeting up at Newbridge Road School at 5:45am and returning when completed to Newbridge Road School. Full Class A uniform is required. The permission slip for this event can be found HERE and is due at the troop meeting on May 26. All who are able should attend this to show our respect and admiration for those who have given everything for our country and our freedoms.


 

United Veteran Organization Memorial Day Ceremony, Sun May 29, 9:15am

The troop will be performing community service by participating in the Memorial Day service at Eisenhower park again this year. The troop will be meeting at EIsenhower Park, parking field 6 at 9:15 am and the ceremony should end around 12 noon. Full Class A uniform required. The permission slip for this event can be found HERE and is due at the troop meeting on May 26. All who are able should attend this to show our respect and admiration for those who have given everything for our country and our freedoms.


 

Memorial Day Parade, Monday, May 30, 9:30am

The troop will be marching in the parade again this year. The parade will be starting in Bellmore Village at 10am and ending at the Memorial in front of the North Bellmore Library around 11am. We will be meeting in Bellmore Village at 9:30am near the memorial. Full Class A uniform required. Permission slips for this event can be foundHERE and is due at the troop meeting on May 26. All who are able should attend this to show our respect and admiration for those who have given everything for our country and our freedoms.


 

Memorial Day Weekend Flag Pickup, Sunday, June 5

We will be picking up the flags at Pinelawn National Cemetery on this day meeting time at Newbridge Road School will be determined this week and returning when completed to Newbridge Road School. Full Class A uniform is required. The permission slip for this event will be available soon. This is a very neglected part of Memorial Day Weekend, we would love to make this as big a tradition as placement day. Please consider taking part in this service.


 

iMovie Training Seminar, Sunday, June 5, 9:30am - 12noon

Mr. Harrington arranged for a free seminar on the use of iMovie software at the Apple store in Roosevelt Field on this day. Those wishing to attend need to let Mr. Harrington know and provide him with a shirt size.  The permission slip for this event can be foundHERE and is due at the troop meeting on May 26.


 

Year End Family BBQ and Court of Honor, Thursday June 9

The end of our regular scouting year is coming up fast which means one last Court of Honor and our annual Family Barbecue. The date will be Thursday, June 9 at the North Bellmore FD pavilion with a tentative start time of 6pm. The troop will be covering some of the expenses for this event but we are asking for $10.00 per family to help with the costs of food and to please bring your own drinks.  We are having standard BBQ fare of burgers, hot dogs, salads, etc. We would love to see everyone to help all the boys celebrate their accomplishments. Please RSVP to Mrs Leisenring atmaryanneleisenring@gmail.com, no later than June 5, so she has time to go shopping.


 

Updated Medical Forms due Thursday, June 9

All scouts especially those attending summer camp must  have updated medical forms in by the end of year BBQ. All scouts should have the parts A, B & C of the latest form, found HERE filled out. Please have 3 copies of the forms and 3 copies of your insurance card and give to Mrs. Leisenring.

OAA 60th Anniversary Reunion Retreat, Sep 16-18, 2016

Citizenship of the Community Merit Badge Group, Dates to come.

Mr. Harrington is arranging for a group opportunity for scouts to earn their Citizenship of the Community merit badge. This is a great opportunity to earn an Eagle required merit badge. If you wish to participate please text Mr. Harrington at 516-567-6763.

 

BSA Certified Angling Instructor Course National Camping School, June 2,3,4,5

TSR Council is sponsoring an angler fishing course this weekend. The goal of the course is designed to improve the quality of Council, District and Unit fishing programs. The course will be held at Onteora Scout Reservation for a cost of $125 including lodging, meal, course materials and fishing. The flyer for this course can be foundHERE and registration HERE.
