Troop Meeting / Summer Camp Blue Card Meeting, Thursday, June 16, 7:30pm

There will be a troop meeting tomorrow night, though the main focus will be summer camp prep there will also be discussions on troop activities for next year so all scouts should plan on attending. This meeting is mandatory for all scouts attending summer camp to fill out blue cards, to present their prerequisites to the scoutmasters and to help plan for summer camp. Also anyone who attended the seminar at the iStore and has their workbook filled out the merit badge counselor will be there to sign off your blue card. Dress will be class B unless applying for the merit badge then you should be in class A..


 

Updated Medical Forms PAST DUE

All scouts especially those attending summer camp must  have updated medical forms in by the end of year BBQ. All scouts should have the parts A, B & C of the latest form, found HERE filled out. Please have 3 copies of the forms and 3 copies of your insurance card and give to Mrs. Leisenring.


 

Eagle Scout collection, Thursday, June 16

The troop is still collecting $5 per scout as donations to our three scouts having their Court of Honors as we do with all our Eagles. James Medici will be having his on June 30, John Kulins on July 15 and Joey Anselmo on August 5 (tentative). More detail on these events will be coming soon. Mrs. Kulins will be taking all donations.


 

Pequott District Dinner, Saturday, June 18, 6:30pm

The District Award of Merit & Recognition Dinner is being held this night. Honoring Cub Scout Pack, Boy Scout Troop, and Venture Crew of the Year, as well as Top Units in Family Friends of Scouting, and Popcorn Fundraising Efforts. The program will start promptly at 6:30

The event is being held at the Elks Club, 2162 Veterans Blvd., Massapequa, NY 11758 with a cost per attendee of  $44 if paid by June 6 ($49 after June 6!). Registration is available online HERE. Dress is Executive Casual.

Committee Meeting, Monday June 20, 7:30-9pm

There is a troop committee meeting Monday, March. 23 at the Kulins house. As always all parents are invited to attend to see what is going on in the troop and provide input.


 

James Medici’s Eagle Court of Honor, Thursday, June 30, 6:30pm

On the evening of Thursday, June 30, there will be a Court of Honor to celebrate all of the hard work that everyone put in to help him obtain the rank of Eagle Scout. The ceremony will be held at 6:30 PM at Saint Frances de Chantal church in Wantagh, the same place that Marc Kulins and Christopher Granito held their ceremonies.He is also looking for anyone to lend a helping hand with setting up at 1pm that afternoon.

John Kulins’ Eagle Court of Honor, Friday, July 15, 6:30pm

On Friday, July 15 Mr. & Mrs Kulins and Troop 577, invite all to celebrate John obtaining the rank of Eagle Scout. The ceremony will be held at 6:30 PM at American Legion Post 1749 in North Bellmore, our troop meeting place. He will be  looking for anyone who lend a helping hand with setting up, details to come.

OAA 60th Anniversary Reunion Retreat, Sep 16-18, 2016

Scout and Scouter Training Opportunities
 

Citizenship of the Community Merit Badge Group, Dates to come.

Mr. Harrington is arranging for a group opportunity for scouts to earn their Citizenship of the Community merit badge. This is a great opportunity to earn an Eagle required merit badge. If you wish to participate please text Mr. Harrington.

 

National Youth Leadership Training will be held this year at Schiff Scout reservation on October 8, 9, 10, 15,16, split up over two weekends.  National Youth Leadership Training (NYLT) is an exciting, action packed program designed to provide youth members with leadership skills and experiences they can use in their home troops, teams, crews, personal lives, and in other situations demanding leadership of self and others.
  Scouts must be 13yo and First Class to attend or with approval of Mr Hanley. All registrations require a letter of recommendation from your Scoutmaster.  

  The fee for this years program is $320  including all course material and all meals with a $50 deposit due at registration. Full payment is due Sept 15. The registration form and more details are available HERE.

  NYLT training is required by Troop 577 for all senior leadership positions so if you have not taken the course please seriously consider it.
