**Mandatory Youth Protection meeting, Thursday, April 23, 7:30pm**

The yearly mandatory youth protection meeting will be held during the troop meetingnext Thursday. All scouts and one accompanying parent must attend this meeting for your scout to participate in scout functions.  


 

Summer Camp Second Payment Past Due

Resica Falls Scout Reservation summer camp second payment of $100 is past due.


 

Mr. Raia's Survival Challenge

Don’t forget to bring your answers to the troop meeting tomorrow night 4/16. Details were emailed previously and are up on the troop website.


 

Camping Trip, Lake Frederick Recreation Area / West Point, April 18-19

The troop is camping this weekend of April 18 - April 19, 2015 at Lake Frederick Recreation Area / West Point. We are leaving at 7am Saturday from Newbridge Road School and returning around 1pm Sunday. Cost will be $15 for scouts and adults. Permission slips found HERE and money are past due. See Mr. Massoni for questions.


 

Merit Badge Workshop, Saturday, April. 18, 9am-1pm

For those not camping Council is having another Merit Badge Workshop this Saturday, April 18. For $25 boys can work on one Merit Badge. The Merit Badges for this session are Personal Management, Citizenship in the World, Geology, and Textile. Registration must be done online HERE. You must have a Blue Card to attend so please see Mr. Kulins first.


 

Introduction to Scuba, Saturday, April 18, 10:00am - 12:30am

Crew288 is sponsoring a 13 and older coed “Introduction to Scuba” this Saturday, April 18, 10:00am-12:30 at Chaminade High School, Jackson Ave, Mineola. The cost is $50 per person.

Merit Badge Workshop, Sunday, April. 19, 10am-2pm

The Center for Science Teaching and Learning in Rockville Center is holding a Merit Badge Workshop this Sunday, April 19. For $40 boys can work on their Environmental Science Merit Badge. Registration must be by phone, more details can be foundHERE. You must have a Blue Card to attend so please see Mr. Kulins first.

The Center for Science Teaching and Learning in Rockville Center is holding a Merit Badge Workshop Saturday, April 25. For $14 boys can work on their Fingerprinting Merit Badge. Registration must be by phone, more details can be found HERE. You must have a Blue Card to attend so please see Mr. Kulins first.


 

Pequott Camporee, Schiff Scout Reservation May 1,2,3

This year’s theme is “Scout Against Wild”. Everyone should be practicing their survival skills (fire starting, knot typing, shelter building, etc). The troop will be leaving from Newbridge Road School on Friday night at 6pm returning Sunday around 1pm. It is bring your own for dinner Friday night. Cost is $20 a scout/scouter and permission slips available HERE are due the April 24 troop meeting (next week).


 

NY Cosmos Soccer Game, Saturday, June 13, 7pm

BSA, the Theodore Roosevelt Council along with the NY Cosmos are sponsoring the NY Cosmos 2015 Scout Night, a fun filled family evening. The NY Cosmos will be playing the Jacksonville Armada FC at Hofstra University’s Shuart Stadium. Tickets are $15, more details and ordering info can be found HERE.


 

Training Opportunities

 

National Youth Leadership Training will be held this year at Schiff Scout reservation on August 16-21.  National Youth Leadership Training (NYLT) is an exciting, action packed program designed to provide youth members with leadership skills and experiences they can use in their home troops, teams, crews, personal lives, and in other situations demanding leadership of self and others. Scouts must be 13yo and First Class to attend or with approval of Mr Kulins. All registrations require a letter of recommendation from your Scoutmaster.  

The fee for this years program is $300 with a $50 deposit due at registration. Full payment is due July 18. The registration form and more details are available HERE.

NYLT training is required by Troop 577 for all senior leadership positions so if you have not taken the course please seriously consider it.
