Merit Badge Workshop, Saturday, June 20, 9am-1pm

The council is having another merit badge workshop on this day. The merit badges to be offered will be Chemistry, American Labor, Robotics, & Geocaching. Cost is $25, details can be found HERE. You must obtain a blue card from Mr. Kulins before attending.

American Hero Weekend Camping Trip, Aug 7,8,9

One of the local Venture crews and TRC are holding a special event on Saturday August 8 at Schiff Scout Reservation. It will be a day of demonstrations and learning about some of our local law enforcement and military heros including a local bomb squad, the USAF 160th Rescue squadron and others. The fee for the Saturday event is $50 but the troop is considering camping at Schiff that weekend also. You can just camp also if the event is not your thing and it would not cost $50. Please let Mr. Kullins know if you are interested.

Training Opportunities

BSA Wilderness First Aid is a ECSI sanctioned course being held on Saturday June 20 and Sunday June 21 at the Teddy Roosevelt Council Service Center in Massapequa. The course is for those 14 and older and requires 16 hours of training. Participants should already be certified in CPR before taking the course. See the TRC website HERE for contact info.

National Youth Leadership Training will be held this year at Schiff Scout reservation on August 16-21.  National Youth Leadership Training (NYLT) is an exciting, action packed program designed to provide youth members with leadership skills and experiences they can use in their home troops, teams, crews, personal lives, and in other situations demanding leadership of self and others. Scouts must be 13yo and First Class to attend or with approval of Mr Kulins. All registrations require a letter of recommendation from your Scoutmaster.

The fee for this years program is $300 with a $50 deposit due at registration. Full payment is due July 18. The registration form and more details are available HERE.

NYLT training is required by Troop 577 for all senior leadership positions so if you have not taken the course please seriously consider it.
