Old New York Historical Trail Hike


Located in lower Manhattan, the “Old New York Historical Trail” is a walking tour rich in the history of New York City. Some sites of interest included on the tour are:

  •  Fraunces Tavern
  • Washington Square in Greenwich Village
  • Castle Clinton in Battery Park
  • Wall Street
  • Chinatown & Little Italy
  • Federal Hall, site of George Washington’s inauguration
  • Trinity Church & graveyard 
The hike will be on Saturday, December 14, 2013. We will meet at the Bellmore LIRR train station at 7:00 am at the main waiting area across from the fire house, and will be departing on a 7:21 am train to Penn Station. Note change of departure time from previous e-mail. 

Scouts / parents are responsible for purchasing their own combination off-peak round trip LIRR ticket and two trip Metrocard at vending machines located by the waiting area. Cost of rail ticket and subway Metrocard is $23. 

Please arrive early enough to ensure that you have time to purchase your ticket before our scheduled departure.

  • The hike lasts approx. 5 hours; we will be returning to the Bellmore train station between 4:00 pm and 5:00 pm.
  • Class “A” uniforms are to be worn. Pack a bag lunch and something to drink. Wear layers appropriate to the weather.
  • Permission slips are due by December 5, 2013. Trip cost is $3.50 (exclusive of train fare). 
  • Scouts who complete the hike will receive a commemorative patch from Man-A-Hattin Lodge 82 / Kintecoying Lodge 4, Order of the Arrow.
