Summer Camp Final Payment Due / Merit badges

Resica Falls Scout Reservation summer camp final payment is due at this weeks troop meeting. Final payments need to be sent out by next week. There are also a couple of extra spots still open if anyone has changed their mind and wants to go.

Also, everyone needs to make their choices for Merit badges being taken if they have not already so they do not get shut out. Please contact Mr. Massoni if you have any questions.

Family Event for Jewish Scouts - L'ag Ba'omer Bonfire, May 7th

The Jewish Committee on Scouting is combining with the Chabad Center in Merrick to present this annual event in Wantagh Park.  They are also asking for help with some of the activities.

ANY scout who needs service time (you do not have to be Jewish)  should contact the committee IN ADVANCE to offer help.  Class A uniforms.  Bring a picnic basket, etc. and dessert will be provided. The Flyer for this event is HERE.

The Avengers: Age of Ultron movie night, Friday, May 8

Mr. Harrington has arranged for the troop to see the new Avengers movie at the Merrick Theater. Cost is $10 per person and includes a drink and popcorn. The permission slip which is Past Due can be found HERE. We had a great time at the last movie so don’t miss out. This is a good opportunity to invite potential new scouts out to see the fun we have as a troop. See Mr Harrington for questions.

We will once again be a service troop for Weblos Woods out at Schiff Scout Reservation. The theme this year is “Halfway to Halloween” and will be assisting in the running of the Fun House. Costumes (to be approved by Mr Kulins) will be required and 5 meals will be provided.  The troop will be leaving from Newbridge Road School on Friday night at 6pm returning Sunday around 1pm. Cost is $20 a scout/scouter and permission slips are available HERE are past due.

Memorial Day Weekend Pancake Breakfast, Saturday May 23, 9am

Our pancake breakfast will be held immediately following flag placement at Pinelawn. This year we are holding at the American Legion Hall. Be sure to come down and invite your family and friends. Training Opportunities

National Youth Leadership Training will be held this year at Schiff Scout reservation on August 16-21.  National Youth Leadership Training (NYLT) is an exciting, action packed program designed to provide youth members with leadership skills and experiences they can use in their home troops, teams, crews, personal lives, and in other situations demanding leadership of self and others. Scouts must be 13yo and First Class to attend or with approval of Mr Kulins. All registrations require a letter of recommendation from your Scoutmaster.

The fee for this years program is $300 with a $50 deposit due at registration. Full payment is due July 18. The registration form and more details are available HERE.

NYLT training is required by Troop 577 for all senior leadership positions so if you have not taken the course please seriously consider it.
