Summer Camp Final Payment Past Due / Merit badges

Resica Falls Scout Reservation summer camp final payment is past due. Final payments need to be sent out by this week. There are also still a couple of extra spots still open if anyone has changed their mind and wants to go.

Also, everyone needs to make their choices for Merit badges being taken if they have not already so they do not get shut out. Please contact Mr. Massoni if you have any questions.

Medical Forms are Due

All scouts especially those attending summer camp need to have updated medical forms Part A, B and C on file if they have not turned in forms for this year. This years forms are available HERE. Please have them filled out and bring them to a troop meeting ASAP.

2015 Webelos Woods, Equipment Return

Anyone who was assigned equipment to clean and try please bring it to the troop meeting this week.

Memorial Day Weekend Flag Placement, Saturday May 23, 5:45am

We will be placing flags at Pinelawn National Cemetery meeting up at Newbridge Road School at 5:45am and returning in time for the pancake breakfast.

Memorial Day Weekend Pancake Breakfast, Saturday May 23, 9am

Our pancake breakfast will be held immediately following the flag placement at Pinelawn. This year we are holding it at the American Legion Hall. Be sure to come down and invite your family and friends. We need adult and scout volunteers to help serve. Please contact Marie Spohrer to volunteer for a shift. In addition to breakfast we will have another basket raffle and I hear there may be even more baskets this year. The Flyer for this event is available HERE.

Memorial Day Parade, Monday May 25

The troop will be marching in the parade again this year. Details will be provided at the troop meeting and a special email sent later this week.

Year end Family Picnic and Court of Honor, Thursday June 11

The end of our regular scouting year is coming up fast which means one last Court of Honor and our annual Family Barbecue. We are currently in the midst of finalizing the details and need to know who will be able attend. The location and the food are still in the planning stages but the date will be Thursday, June 11 with a tentative start time of 6pm. The troop will be covering all the expenses for this event. We would love to see everyone to help all the boys celebrate their accomplishments.

If you plan on attending please RSVP to this email with your family name and how many will be attending. We look forward to seeing everyone.

NY Cosmos Soccer Game, Saturday, June 13, 7pm

BSA, the Theodore Roosevelt Council along with the NY Cosmos are sponsoring the NY Cosmos 2015 Scout Night, a fun filled family evening. The NY Cosmos will be playing the Jacksonville Armada FC at Hofstra University’s Shuart Stadium. Tickets are $15, more details and ordering info can be found HERE.

Merit Badge Workshop, Saturday, June 20, 9am-1pm

The council is having another merit badge workshop on this day. The merit badges to be offered have not been announced yet.

Training Opportunities

National Youth Leadership Training will be held this year at Schiff Scout reservation on August 16-21.  National Youth Leadership Training (NYLT) is an exciting, action packed program designed to provide youth members with leadership skills and experiences they can use in their home troops, teams, crews, personal lives, and in other situations demanding leadership of self and others. Scouts must be 13yo and First Class to attend or with approval of Mr Kulins. All registrations require a letter of recommendation from your Scoutmaster.

The fee for this years program is $300 with a $50 deposit due at registration. Full payment is due July 18. The registration form and more details are available HERE.

NYLT training is required by Troop 577 for all senior leadership positions so if you have not taken the course please seriously consider it.
