General Open House Recruitment Drive, Oct 30. 7:30pm
We are sending out recruitment flyers to the local Elementary Schools for an open house on our Troop Meeting this week. Let’s make sure we give the prospective scouts and their parents a very warm welcome and let’s show them how great our troop is. If you know anyone who may be interested please invite them down. Word is we may be having a special demonstration that night. Let’s look sharp and show our scout spirit.

Completed Popcorn Orders, Oct 30, 7:30pm
All completed popcorn order forms and monies are due at this weeks troop meeting.

Joe Anselmo’s Eagle Project, Nov 1-2, 8am
Joe’s Eagle Scout Project is this weekend at the Last Hope Animal Rescue at 3300 beltagh ave Wantagh.  It is located across from Wantagh High School and down the road from the TOH animal shelter.  Start time is 8am. We will be gardening and cleaning the interior of the rescue. Please bring gardening gloves and any gardening tools you can. Be sure to put your name on the signup sheet at the troop meeting this week.

Mandatory Parents Meeting, November 6, 7:30pm
There will be a mandatory parents meeting during the November 6 troop meeting, at least one parent from each family is expected to attend.

Veterans Day Service and Services, November 8, 9, 11
The troop will be participating in three functions for Veterans Day.

We will be visiting the VA Hospital on Saturday, November 8.

We will be participating in the Nassau County Veterans Day service at Eisenhower Park at the war memorial on Sunday, November 9.

We will be participating in the Veterans Day service at the memorial in front of the North Bellmore Library on Tuesday, November 11.

Specific details to follow and permission slips will be made available.

Camping Trip To West Hills County Park, Nov. 15 – 16
 The troop will be doing a tent camping trip to West Hills County Park in Melville on Nov. 15 – 16, 2014!

We will be hiking the Walt Whitman Trail to Jayne’s Hill, the highest peak on Long Island!

Adults who can’t stay overnight are welcome to join us for the day, or to come out and enjoy the campfire at night.

We will also be using this trip as a recruitment opportunity for Webelo scouts.

All permission slips and money are due at our troop meeting on Nov. 6. Permission slips will be available on the Troop 577 website.

Save the Date! Winter Cabin Camping at Durland/Clear Lake, Jan 2-4
The troop has a winter cabin camping trip planned at Durland (Clear Lake) Scout Reservation for Jan. 2 to Jan. 4, 2015. More information to follow – save the date
