Troop 577: 2015 Pancake Breakfast / Gift Basket Extravaganza

posted Feb 24, 2015, 9:05 PM by Shawn O'Hea
Hi Everyone,
It’s time again to start thinking about our Pancake Breakfast Fundraiser.  This year will be having it at the American Legion Post (NOT APPLEBEES) on Saturday, May 23rd.  So save the date!  Last year the raffle baskets were such a big success and lots of fun that we are going to do them again this year.
We are asking each family to help.  Here is how:
  1. Each Scout will be asked to pre-sell at least 4 tickets – more information to follow.
  1. Raffle Baskets:
    1. Look in your closets for new items you have that you never use – no matter how small.
    2. Shop the sales.  If you see an item on clearance, pick it up and donate it – again big or small we will find a basket to put it in.
    3. We are asking every family to get at least one donated item from a store or business or other place you frequent.  If you prefer, you can make a $15 donation. Please email me at and let me know whether you plan on getting a donation or whether you would prefer to make a donation.  When you get a donation, please email me so that I can put it on our list and give you the credit for the donation.
    4. I have attached a letter HERE that you can use when you ask for your donation.
    5. I will email an updated list of the places that have been approached for a donation so that we don’t visit the same merchant.
    6. I am hoping to do a lottery tree (fleur de lei) and asking if each family could send in 2 or 3 lottery tickets.
    7. Any baskets, bows or ribbons and cellophane can donate would also be greatly appreciated.
  1. All items can be brought to the Thursday Meetings and given to Jonathan Spohrer, Cathy Kulins or myself.
  1. I will need a small committee to put the baskets together.  If anyone is interested, please e-mail me at
  1. The day of the breakfast I will need adult and Scout volunteers to help cook, take orders, serve and clean up.  If you are interested, please let me know.
  1. Donation request have already been made to the following places:
           Stop & Shop
           Laser Bounce
           Wildlife Conservation - Bronx Zoo
           Adventure Land
           NY Jets
           Long Island Children's Museum
           Cradle of Aviation
           Museum of Natural History
           Long Island Aquarium
           Long Island Ducks
Dunkin Donuts - (Newbridge and Bellmore Aves)  If anyone frequents any other  Dunkin Donuts, please see if you can get a gift card of $15 or $20 to add to the items that were given to me already to make a basket.
Once again Baskets, Bows and Ribbons are always welcome.
Thanking everyone in advance for all their help.Together we can make this a fun, exciting and successful.
