Toiletries Collection for the Veterans, Thursday, Nov. 6, 7:30pm
Each scout is required to bring in at least one new toiletry item (toothbrush, toothpaste, razors, etc.) to the troop meeting this week. These items will be handed out next week by the American Legion Post to veterans at their “Stand Down” event next week.


 

Mandatory Parents Meeting, November 6, 7:30pm
There will be mandatory parents meeting during this week’s troop meeting; at least one parent from each family is expected to attend.


 

Troop Leadership Training, Saturday, Nov. 8, 8:30am
Troop Leadership Training will take part on Saturday Nov 8. 
 
The training will start promptly at 8:30 AM, Breakfast and Lunch will be provided.
 
The training will take place at the American Legion Hall (same place as our troop meetings)
 
All youth leaders must attend, that is any youth with a leadership positon. 
 
Even if you've been trained before or have taken NYLT this is mandatory training.
  
Class A uniform (As if you are going to a regular troop meeting). 
 
Please bring a pen and paper for note taking.

Veterans Day Service and Services November 8, 9, 11
The troop will be participating in three functions for this upcoming Veterans Day.

We will be visiting the Northport VA Hospital on Saturday, November 8. We are leaving from the American Legion Post at 12:30 returning approximately 3:15pm. Class A uniform required, permission slip is available here.

We will be participating in the Nassau County Veterans Day service at Eisenhower Park at the war memorial on Sunday, November 9. We are leaving from the Newbridge Road School at 9:30am returning approximately 11:15am. Class A uniform required, permission slip is available here.

We will be participating in the Veterans Day service at the memorial in front of the North Bellmore Library on Tuesday, November 11. The ceremony starts promptly at 11:00am so get there a little early and it will last till about 11:30am. Class A uniform required, permission slip is available here. (11/11 at 11)

This is a great way to show our gratitude and respect to those who serve or have served our country. Please try to attend as many events as possible. Those who attend all three will be eligible for the American Legion Scout Shoulder patch.


 

Camping Trip To West Hills County Park
 The troop will be doing a tent camping trip to West Hills County Park in Melville on Nov. 15 – 16, 2014!

We are leaving from the Newbridge Road School on Saturday Nov. 15, 7am returning Sunday, Nov. 16, 1pm.
We will be hiking the Walt Whitman Trail to Jayne’s Hill, the highest peak on Long Island!

Adults who can’t stay overnight are welcome to join us for the day, or to come out and enjoy the campfire at night.

We will also be using this trip as a recruitment opportunity for Webelo scouts.

 All permission slips and money are due at our troop meeting on Nov. 6. Permission slips are available on the Troop 577 website here.

Wreath Sale Orders Due, Thursday, Nov. 20
Returned wreath sale orders are due at the troop meeting  on Nov. 20. Be sure to bring your forms and full payment of your orders. No orders will be accepted after Nov. 20 the grower needs time to prepare the orders, due to the holiday



 
Troop Turkey Feast, Friday, Nov. 21, 6:30pm
Our annual Thanksgiving Turkey Feast will take place on Friday Nov. 21, 2014 at 6:30 pm at the Legion Post.
All families are invited and encouraged to attend.
Please see the list here of dishes/items that you may sign up for, as this is a Troop Family run event.
We look forward to this annual holiday tradition.

Ten Commandment Hike, Friday, Nov, 28th
This year’s Ten Commandment Hike is on Friday, Nov. 28 the day after Thanksgiving in East Meadow. A $5 registration fee per person is required to cover lunch  and a patch. As always families are invited to attend. This is a great way to work off that extra serving of Turkey and explore the religious diversity of our area. Cold Weather Training, Sunday, Dec. 7, 12:30-5pm
Cold weather training is being held on, Sunday, Dec. 7 12:30 -5:00 pm at Chaminade High School, all scouts should do this training. The troop is paying the individual registration fees for all scouts and scouters going. You must sign up now so we can secure a spot at the training. Space is limited 




Save the Date! Winter Cabin Camping at Durland/Clear Lake, Jan 2-4
The troop has a winter cabin camping trip planned at Durland (Clear Lake) Scout Reservation for Jan. 2 to Jan. 4, 2015. More information to follow – save the date
