Constitution Island 04/2012

Constitution Island/ April 21st- 22nd, 2012

This was a really great trip right on the Hudson River across from WestPoint Military Academy which owns the “island”. It is where some of George Washington’s troops were stationed to help guard the Hudson River. We took a hike to one of the small stone fortresses a little while away from our campsite where everyone got a great distant view of WestPoint. Also, we held a very nice flag burning ceremony with a no longer serviceable American flag after we all had supper which, by the way, was very good. A little bit of rain came that night after all of the scouts were in their tents, but the whole first day and second morning were clear and everyone had a great time.
